Motion capture
Motion Capture is a process where an actor wears a special suit lined with sensors. The sensors provide the actor's motion data to the computer which is then applied to a computer-animated character.

It has been used to populate the deck of a computer generated ship (titanic) or to bring a creature to life (Gollum in Lord of the Rings).
