The school provides correct and timely information to the VA regarding a student’s academic program and current enrollment status, and will make every reasonable effort to assist students. It is important to understand that school officials are not VA employees. It’s more efficient for the student to deal directly with the experts in the VA Education Benefits Office.
To discuss the type and amount of education benefits available to you, please contact the VA Education Benefits Office at 888-442-4551 or visit http://www.gibill.va.gov. Information is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Veterans of the Armed Forces receive a DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, when they are separated from service. Veterans who use Form 22-1990 to submit a claim for educational benefits should provide to the Veterans Administration a VA Certified Copy of the DD Form 214 as supporting documentation. Veterans who have been released from active duty since October 1979 should submit the Page 4 Member Copy, which contains certain information regarding the individual’s period of service that is essential to the VA’s determination of eligibility for benefits. If the original copy is submitted, the VA will return it, but it is advised that a certified copy be provided.
