Late in 2011, The DAVE School's Executive Director, Steve Warner, gave his signature Lighting and Rendering lecture to the students at the school. Today we are posting the second segment which examines the way that environment parameters affect an object's surface settings. The goal of this series is to give students a better understanding of CG lighting and rendering. While LightWave 3D is used for the demonstration, the principles discussed apply to all 3D programs, including 3DS Max, Maya and even ZBrush.

In the fall of 2011, DAVE School's Executive Director, Steve Warner, gave two 5 hour lectures on 3D Lighting and Rendering. We will be presenting the series in its entirety over the coming months. In this first part (running nearly an hour in length), Steve covers the basics of 3D material properties and how to translate what you see in the real world in to parameters you can use in your 3D software.
