DS shoots new VFX shots for New Voyages.
Progress contiues on the effects work for Star Trek New Voyages. In the episode's major action scene Lt. Sulu (played by John Lim ) and a fellow crewman flee a nearly destroyed Romulan Bird of Prey. Lim, a resident of Washington DC, travelled to the DAVE School in Orlando for the shoot that was directed by instructors Ron Thornton and Lee Stringer. The DAVE School green screen stage was extended an additonal 20 feet to give the actors room to "run for their lives."

The CGI modeling is well underway, Alexander Assumpcao just finished a new take on the Romulan ship and work on our version of the Starship Enterprise is nearly complete. Eric Haas and Brett Little also worked out the interior of the shuttle craft bay, a view never seen in the original series.

DAVE Students take the Space Elevator
Can we build a 22,000-mile-high cable to transport cargo and people into space?

DAVE School graduates Jeff Leeroy, Jackson Yuen, Mike Cliett and Matt Zeyn helped create a 3D animation of a space elevator for PBS Nova to see how the space elevator will work when it is completed.

But why build a space elevator? The space elevator will reduce the cost of getting from Earth to space. It will also allow us to take very large payloads into space very easily, very safely. Because of that, we can build citys on the moon and we can build space stations. We can build large solar arrays in space to collect energy from the sun and beam it down to Earth.
